Story Swap:
the little Free Library on Central Avenue
In the midst of 2020-2021, our little family was craving community but taking precautions due to the ongoing pandemic. We had the idea to build and curate our own Free Little Library at the top of the alleyway behind our house. We lived on a busy street, so alleyways were how we navigated our neighborhood.
We built and designed the library from hand and designed one side of it to be an interactive chalk board, while the other side was a magnetic board. I painted a simple design on the side of our storage shed (behind the library) to go with the color scheme and whimsical feel of it. We had a ribbon cutting ceremony and invited all of our stuffed animal friends. Even though we moved away from this neighborhood, we've been told the library is still visited and used to this day!
